For concentrated nitric acid, aqua regia, or hydrofluoric acid, a PFA-lined V-port pneumatic ball valve provides reliable corrosion resistance through a fully encapsulated lining system. Available with flanged connections (PN10, PN16, 150LBS) and PFA lining rated -29°C to 200°C, the valve handles the most aggressive chemicals. Select PFA for higher temperature service (200°C), FEP for moderate temperatures (150°C), or PTFE for general chemical resistance (180°C). The V-port design enables precise flow control with equal percentage characteristics. The PFA liner is locked into the body through deep grooves, preventing collapse under vacuum or blowout under pressure.
Liner Locking System: Preventing Blowout and Collapse
The PFA lining is injection-molded and mechanically locked into deep grooves machined into the valve body, ball, and stem. This positive mechanical interlock prevents liner deformation under full vacuum or displacement under high-pressure flow. Without this locking feature, the liner could be sucked into the flow path under vacuum or extruded out under pressure.
Anti-extrusion features of pfa lined ball valves:
-
🔒 Deep groove locking system for liner retention
-
🛡️ One-piece ball and stem eliminates joint rupture risk
-
⚙️ PTFE or TFM seat rings provide zero-leak sealing
-
🔧 Anti-blowout stem design ensures safety
Chemical Inertness of PFA Lining
PFA exhibits chemical inertness to virtually all chemicals, including concentrated nitric acid, boiling aqua regia, hydrofluoric acid, and chlorine. Unlike PTFE, PFA offers superior resistance to permeation—the gradual penetration of chemicals through the liner. The pfa lined valves eliminate metal-to-fluid contact, protecting the carbon steel or stainless steel body from corrosion. This makes the pfa lined valves a cost-effective alternative to high-alloy materials like Hastelloy.
Liner Material Temperature Ratings
| Liner Material | Temperature Range | Application |
|---|---|---|
| PTFE | -29°C to 180°C | General chemical resistance |
| PFA | -29°C to 200°C | High-temperature, aggressive media |
| FEP | -29°C to 150°C | Moderate temperature service |
The pfa ball valve is specified for the highest temperature resistance. FEP offers a cost-effective option for moderate temperatures. PTFE suits general chemical applications with lower temperature requirements.
V-Port Design for Flow Regulation
The V-shaped ball provides precise flow control. The contoured V-notch creates a shearing action, effective for fibrous or viscous media. The pfa lined ball valve offers high rangeability for accurate control across a wide flow range.
Key specifications:
-
Size range: DN15-DN200 (1/2"-8")
-
Pressure rating: PN10, PN16, 150LBS
-
Temperature range: -29°C to 200°C (PFA)
Pneumatic Actuator Integration
The pfa ball valve can be fitted with double-acting or spring-return pneumatic actuators. Spring-return actuators provide fail-safe operation upon loss of air supply. The actuator mounting conforms to ISO 5211 for direct accessory mounting.
Selection priorities for lined ball valves:
-
Select PFA lining for -29°C to 200°C service with aggressive chemicals
-
Choose FEP for -29°C to 150°C moderate temperature applications
-
Specify PTFE for -29°C to 180°C general chemical resistance
-
Verify flanged connection matches PN10, PN16, or 150LBS rating
-
Select V-port design for throttling control; standard ball for on-off service
The pfa lined ball valve with V-port design provides reliable handling for aggressive chemicals. PFA lined ball valves and pfa lined valves are specified for severe chemical service, while the pfa ball valve with V-port enables precise throttling control.
FVF PFA Lined V Port Regulating Pneumatic Ball Valve
