Metal valves fail fast in acids and chlorides. Lined ball valves with PTFE/PFA dual protection offer 3-5x longer service life. Select PTFE for standard service up to 180°C. Specify PFA above 180°C or for low-permeability requirements. For vacuum below 100 mbar abs., specify vent holes to prevent liner collapse.

PTFE Lined Ball Valve – Standard Solution
PTFE lined ball valve uses virgin PTFE with broad chemical compatibility.

Applications: Hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid (≤98%), sodium hydroxide, chlorine gas, organic solvents. Not suitable for molten alkali metals, fluorine gas, or fuming nitric acid.
PFA Lined Ball Valves – High-Temperature Service
PFA lined ball valves use perfluoroalkoxy resin with superior thermal stability.
Advantages over PTFE:

Continuous service: up to +260°C (80°C higher)

Smoother surface (reduces fouling and friction)

Permeability ~10x lower than PTFE
Applications: Hot concentrated sulfuric acid, oleum, bromine, high-purity chemicals. PFA lined valves are specified where PTFE softens or permeation contaminates products.

Troubleshooting Field Issues

Selecting the right lined ball valve comes down to four parameters: media, temperature, pressure, and vacuum. PTFE covers standard chemical service to 180°C. PFA addresses high-temperature and low-permeation requirements. Vacuum below 100 mbar forces the vent hole specification regardless of lining. Document these conditions before vendor selection to prevent misapplication and achieve 3-5x longer service life.
FVF PFA PTFE FEP Lined Ball Valve With Worm Gear
- FVF lined ball valve has very high chemical stability, and is applicable for any other strong corrosion media except for molten alkalie and fluorine;
- FVF lined ball valve with full-bore and floating-ball structure can close the valve within the whole pressure range ensuring zero leakage, which facilitates the pipeline pigging and pipeline maintenance in the system;
- The integration of closure ball body and valve stem eliminates the possibility that the stem rushes out from pressure-containing parts due to pressure change, which ensures fundamentally the operational safety of the engineering;
