Structural differences across each lined check valve design focus on internal closure geometry, fluid redirection contours, and disc displacement kinematics under operating pressure. A lift pattern routes line media through a tortuous S-shaped passage to displace a guided piston vertically off a horizontal seat plane, ensuring concentric shutoff. In contrast, a swing pattern positions an offset disc hinged above an unobstructed conduit, rotating outward along an angular arc to yield a full-bore waterway that minimizes velocity decay and turbulence.

Guided Linear Displacement in Lift Bodies

Lift configurations route horizontal flow upward through an integrated orifice where forward pressure lifts an encapsulated piston along a machined guide sleeve. When line velocity decreases, gravity and reverse pressure seat the piston squarely onto the horizontal perimeter. This guided stroke ensures concentric alignment, achieving bubble-tight shutoff against hazardous liquids even under minimal differential pressure.

Pivoting Radial Travel in Swing Bodies

A lined swing check valve uses an offset hinge pin mounted above the conduit centerline. Media momentum swings the disc toward the body cavity roof, establishing an unobstructed waterway. As forward flow halts, the disc rotates down along its travel radius onto an inclined seat, reducing turbulence across high-volume pipelines while requiring sufficient static backpressure to seal completely.

Mechanical Divergence and Service Parameters

Selecting between guided linear displacement and radial rotation requires balancing localized hydraulic turbulence against directional shutoff responsiveness.

Design Metric Guided Lift Assembly Pivoting Swing Assembly
Flow Path S-shaped diversion contour Straight linear conduit
Seating Profile Flat horizontal plane Angled circumferential ring
Pipeline Orientation Horizontal run only Horizontal or upward vertical
Cracking Pressure 0.05 to 0.15 bar 0.02 to 0.06 bar
Flow Resistance Moderate pressure drop Minimal boundary friction
Particulate Handling Clean fluids preferred Moderate slurry tolerance

Primary Selection Criteria for Processing Lines

Specific operating conditions determine mechanical reliability under continuous chemical exposure:

  1. Pressure Drop Tolerance: High-velocity discharge lines suffer energy losses through tortuous passages, making straight-through swing bodies preferable to preserve discharge head.

  2. Space Constraints and Alignment: Horizontal manifolds with strict spatial boundaries favor lift units for compact vertical travel without hinge clearance issues.

  3. Pulsation Dampening: Positive displacement pumps create continuous pressure waves that unguided discs handle poorly, whereas constrained piston guides resist chatter.

  4. Solids Contamination: Media carrying crystalline suspensions can settle inside vertical guide sleeves, favoring pivoting flaps that sweep entrained solids away.

Flow Path Geometry and Energy Conservation

Process headers require careful assessment of internal resistance. Systems employing a lined ball check valve often experience fluid vortices around spheres inside enlarged chambers. Lift through-way bodies route fluid through two directional shifts, producing higher hydrodynamic drag while shielding internal guides from impingement. Conversely, swing geometries maintain streamlined flow with minimal boundary layer separation.

Installation Rigor and Hydrodynamic Protection

Preserving sealing integrity requires structured piping practices to remove flow disturbances before fluid reaches closure interfaces:

  1. Upstream Straight Run: Piping configurations should maintain five straight pipe diameters upstream to eliminate turbulence and fluid swirl entering the valve throat.

  2. Torque Distribution Sequence: Crews tighten companion flange studs in progressive star patterns to distribute mechanical compression across raised fluoropolymer faces.

  3. Axis Verification: Field alignment ensures guided pistons stroke vertically and swinging flaps seat fully under available reverse pressure.

Polymer Encapsulation and Pressure Containment

Aggressive chemical duties often prompt comparisons with designs like a pfa lined ball check valve, yet mechanical stability under negative pressure dictates housing profiles. Continuous dovetail recesses cast inside ductile iron bodies anchor melt-extruded fluoropolymers. Whether handling boiling mineral acids or halogenated reagents up to 150°C, locked liners resist detachment during siphon drawdowns.

Controlled stud tension balances mechanical compression along sealing perimeters, eliminating stress concentrations and maintaining internal polymer surfaces across fluctuating thermal cycles.

FVF FEP Lined Lift Through-Way Check Valve

  • FVF lined check valve only allow one way flow direction and prevent the back-flow of liquids in pipeline. Generally check valve is automatically working.Under the pressure function of one direction flow, the disc open, while when the liquid back flows, the valve will cut flow. When it is used as vertical installation, it will not set the spring. Using the disc weight and backflow pressure to achieve the check effect.
  • FVF lined check valve is mainly used in chemical industries, such as sulfuric acid, alkali etc.
