A ptfe lined pipe system can use a PTFE lined double spherical rubber expansion joint to absorb thermal movement, vibration and pipe displacement. The double spherical design provides flexibility for axial, lateral and angular movement, with a working temperature range of -50°C to 180°C. Standard construction uses three convolutions, with additional convolutions available for more movement.
How PTFE Protects a Flexible Pipe Connection
A teflon lined pipe connection needs corrosion resistance without making the entire system rigid. The inner PTFE lining isolates the process medium, while the rubber body provides elastic deformation. The product uses a PTFE inner lining, nylon fabric liner, steel flanges and a wire-steel rubber holder, forming a flexible connection for corrosive piping.
Movement Control in Operating Pipelines
Thermal expansion, mechanical deformation and vibration can transfer loads through rigid piping. A PTFE expansion bellows or flexible expansion joint introduces controlled movement at the connection point. The double spherical geometry accommodates combined displacement and can reduce vibration and noise transmitted through the pipeline.
Pressure and Temperature Range
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Construction | Double spherical rubber |
| Inner lining | PTFE |
| Connection | Flange |
| Working pressure | 1.2 MPa |
| Burst pressure | 3.5 MPa |
| Temperature | -50°C to 180°C |
| Standard convolutions | 3 |
| Vacuum | 650 mmHg |
The double spherical configuration is rated at 1.2 MPa working pressure and 3.5 MPa burst pressure, with a stated vacuum value of 650 mmHg. These limits should be considered together with pipeline movement, medium characteristics and installation conditions.
Where the Expansion Joint Fits
A ptfe lined tubing assembly can use the joint near pumps, vessels or connections where thermal or mechanical movement occurs. The product is intended for strong corrosive media, including hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, hydrofluoric acid, liquid chlorine, sulfuric acid and aqua regia.
Installation and Service Considerations
Flanges should align with the connected piping so the joint is not forced beyond its movement range. Tie rods, hinges, rings or outer reinforcement can be selected for pressure, temperature, vacuum and movement control. During service, leakage, abnormal deformation and changes in vibration can indicate that inspection is required.
Flexible Compensation for Corrosive Piping
A PTFE lined pipe system gains a flexible connection that combines corrosion isolation with compensation for thermal, lateral and angular movement. The double spherical structure suits applications where rigid pipe sections need controlled flexibility while the process medium remains separated from the rubber body and supporting components.
