Why Stainless Steel Fails – The Corrosion Mechanisms

How the Lined Ball Valve Works – The Fluoropolymer Barrier
A ptfe lined ball valve uses a compression-molded PTFE or PFA liner covering the body interior, ball, and flange faces. The liner locks into the body via dovetail grooves, preventing vacuum collapse. The ball is fully encapsulated. Live-loaded PTFE V-ring packing with Belleville springs maintains constant stem seal pressure, compensating for wear and thermal cycling.

A ptfe lined ball valve handles standard corrosive services up to 180°C, including hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid (≤98%), and caustic soda. Pfa lined ball valves extend service to 200°C with lower permeation, suitable for chlorine, hot concentrated acids, and strong oxidizers. Pfa lined valves with locked-in liner design are rated for full vacuum service.
