A lined globe valve isolates aggressive chemical streams from pressure-retaining metallic shells while delivering linear flow regulation and shutoff. This design combines a fluoropolymer inner lining with a rising-stem trim to achieve ANSI FCI 70-2 Class VI bubble-tight sealing inside piping systems handling concentrated sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and chlorine gas. Plant operators replace costly exotic alloy valves with this assembly to resist pitting and uniform corrosion.
Flow Throttling and Cavitation Mitigation Mechanics
Internal geometry routes process media through an S-shaped flow path, translating linear plug displacement into exact equal percentage or linear flow characteristics. When dosing harsh reagents, a ptfe lined globe valve prevents wall erosion through balanced velocity dissipation across the valve seat. Thick compression-molded resin absorbs fluid turbulence and prevents localized cavitation erosion near the vena contracta during continuous micro-throttling service.
Fluoropolymer Protective Lining Specifications
| Resin Type | Operating Temperature Limit | Vacuum Capability | Target Chemical Exposure |
| Compression PTFE | -20°C to +180°C | Partial vacuum (-0.5 bar) | Aqueous acids, standard alkalis |
| Transfer-Molded PFA | -20°C to +200°C | Full vacuum (0.1 mbar) | Concentrated nitric acid, halogen gases |
| Melt-Extruded FEP | -20°C to +150°C | Positive pressure service | Spent pickling liquors, diluted wash streams |
Stem Containment and Mechanical Liner Anchoring
Stem leakage introduces severe toxic exposure risks during acid transfer. A pfa lined globe valve eliminates stem escape paths using multi-convolution fluoropolymer bellows assemblies backed with chevron packing sets. Machined dovetail grooves inside the cast ductile body lock the resin firmly against the wall. This mechanical retention stops liner collapse under severe thermal cycling and deep line vacuums.
Pneumatic Control Loop Integration and Dynamic Response
Automated chemical neutralization loops require repeatable valve travel. Integrating pfa lined globe valves with pneumatic diaphragm actuators provides immediate stroking response and fail-safe closing upon instrument air loss. Direct yoke mounting attaches digital positioners to the rising stem, eliminating mechanical linkage hysteresis. Continuous signal feedback maintains seat tightness and stable chemical dosing throughout demanding processing campaigns.
