A lined control valve achieves zero metal contact through full fluoropolymer lining that covers all wetted surfaces—body, seat, plug, and flange faces. PTFE serves up to 180°C. PFA extends to 200°C for strong oxidizers. FEP covers steam and hot water up to 150°C. How does a lined control valve achieve zero metal contact

  1. The liner covers all internal surfaces—body, seat, plug, and flange faces.

  2. The plug is fully encapsulated with PTFE or PFA.

  3. The PTFE bellows seals the stem area, eliminating the leak path to atmosphere.

  4. The liner extends to the flange face, creating a full seal at the pipe joint.

Common Design Pitfalls

Full Lining – The Corrosion Barrier

The liner is the primary corrosion barrier. PTFE, PFA, or FEP liners cover all wetted surfaces. The liner is compression molded and mechanically locked into the body via dovetail grooves, preventing collapse under vacuum. The plug is fully encapsulated with the same fluoropolymer.

Lining Material Selection

A ptfe lined globe control valve provides broad chemical resistance for standard acids and caustic up to 180°C. A pfa lined control valve extends service to 200°C for chlorine, hot acids, and strong oxidizers. An fep valve offers cost-effective sealing for steam and hot water up to 150°C. Lined control valves with PFA lining are specified for pharmaceutical and semiconductor applications requiring low extractables.

Stem Sealing – Bellows and Backup Packing

The stem seal prevents leakage to atmosphere. Lined control valves use a PTFE bellows as the primary seal and PTFE V-ring packing as the secondary barrier. This dual sealing system ensures hermetic sealing under thermal cycling and pressure fluctuations.

FVF Pneumatic FEP Lined Single Seat Control Valve

  • FVF pneumatic/electric lined control valve is the execution unit in automation instrument system.It consists of many spring film actuators/electric actuators and through-way fluorine-lined single-seat regulator. It is installed on the medium pipeline and operated with other instrument to control parameters such as flow rate etc.
